A total of 984 Christmas parcels recently made children's eyes shine in Romania. The colourful and age-appropriate gifts from Waldeck-Frankenberg, Korbach, Upland and Kassel were distributed from
3 to 6 December together with LOGOS partners in Gheorgheni. At temperatures well below freezing, twelve kindergartens, a children's centre, a school and the children of a mother-child centre as
well as a children's home were presented with presents during this fourth "Package of Joy" campaign.
LOGOS Chairman Heinrich Floreck was on site himself and was able to perceive both the great joy and the unimaginable poverty. In fact, the families of these children are sometimes so poor that
they lack the income of their own to ensure the daily supply of food. Luxury items such as sweets or Christmas presents are out of the question. An educator explained to the helpers that the
children have been waiting for this one day all year long. At the same time as the parcels were distributed, Christmas parties were also held in the facilities, at which poems and songs were
recited and even a Santa Claus appeared. A heartfelt thank you to all packers, helpers, collection points and to the patron of the action, Korbach's mayor Klaus Friedrich.
